Course Overview

 Do you enjoy designing, creating, and crafting? Are you looking to learn more about crafting and online design? Have you purchased a Cricut machine and want to learn what is next?

In this class, we will go over how to navigate the online Cricut Design Space, cut various materials using the Cricut, and assemble your own projects. We will review design principles and apply this to 6 different projects throughout the course with you designing your final project at the end of the 6 weeks. The Cricut gives users endless opportunities to get creative and make their ideas come to life. This course is perfect for educators looking to create interactive teaching tools, creative people looking to expand into digital design, or anyone looking to make custom items for parties, weddings, or celebrations.

Course Curriculum

Week 1: Introduction to Crafting and Cricut Basics
Objectives:

Understand the basics of crafting and its applications.
Get familiar with the Cricut machine and its capabilities.
Set up and navigate Cricut Design Space.

Week 2: Digital Design Principles

- Learn fundamental design principles.

- Explore digital design tools and software.

- Create a simple digital design project.

Week 3: Advanced Cricut Techniques

- Explore advanced features of the Cricut machine.

- Learn about different materials and cutting techniques.

- Create a more complex project using multiple layers.

Week 4: Personalization and Customization

- Learn techniques for personalizing and customizing projects.

- Explore text, monograms, and layering in designs.

- Create a personalized project.

Week 5: Exploring Online Design Resources and Communities

- Discover online resources for design inspiration and project ideas.

- Learn about Cricut communities and social media groups.

- Create a project inspired by online resources.

Week 6: Final Projects and Showcase

- Apply all learned skills to create a final project.

- Present and share final projects with the class.

- Provide feedback and celebrate accomplishments.

 

Materials Needed: Will be discussed on the first evening

- Cricut machines (one per student or shared).

- Computers or tablets with internet access. Provided if required.

- Cricut Design Space software.

- Various materials (vinyl, paper, fabric, etc.).

- Basic crafting tools (scissors, glue, etc.).
