We were delighted to visit with our partners at the Emergency Services Training Institute on Tuesday 5 February.
Thirty-five of our current students met with graduates of the course to learn how their time at BFEI was the launchpad to their careers in emergency care. The students attended presentations by Ciarán Curran of ESTI on qualifying as an Emergency First Responder and Emergency Medical Technician, both important front-line careers in the healthcare sector.
Our students were particularly impressed to meet with graduates including Graham Ball (Dublin Airport Fire Service), Private Eric Redmond (Irish Defence Forces Combat Medic), Mark Shaw (Dublin Fire Brigade), Mark Kelly (NHS Ambulance Service, England), and Jenifer Warfield-Byrne (ESTI). Our graduates confirmed the benefits of the QQI award they achieved at BFEI, and of the importance of their additional training and certification they undertook while studying.
All advised that students in this course should volunteer in the Ambulance Services or the Civil Defence
Thank you so much to all who gave their time to encourage this year's students to work hard, to be positive and focused on their goals, and to engage and participate in all the opportunities they can in order to secure their careers in emergency care.
